A new season comes with new challenges and opportunities

The autumnal equinox is a time where change is marked. The days shorten, the trees change colour, fungi replace flowers, and the weather certainly feels different. For many this change is something that brings with it feelings of loss - longer dark nights trigger the onset of S.A.D. (Seasonal Affective Disorder). Working therapeutically outside has real benefits, beyond connecting with the natural world, daylight is a massive mood booster.

One of the things that has become clearer to me over this year is that change is constant and that some changes, such as the change of the seasons, are beyond our control but that we can all make changes to our own lives if we know what we want to achieve. The card is one of a series that I carry with me in a tin (nicknamed my Ecotin) that I use in my therapeutic work. This one introduces the idea of Ikigai. It can be used to help find a way of being that is more harmonious to your own needs. For me, right now, Ecotherapy is my Ikigai....but that may change!
