I trained as an integrative therapist which means that I have a wide range of theoretical perspectives and practical counselling skills to offer my clients; below are some examples of the theories that I use when working with clients.

  • Ecotherapy

Ecotherapy is an umbrella term for a number of structured activities that take place in the natural world.   The majority of work I undertake is walk and talk therapy, but it also includes guided meditation, mindfulness (see below), Medicine walks or Environmental Arts Therapy.

  • Person Centred Therapy

A non-directive approach (you as the client will lead – with me walking alongside you), Person Centred Therapy stems from the belief that we all hold our own answers, but sometimes struggle to find them.

  • Gestalt Therapy

Gestalt is a German word with no exact English equivalent.  It is often described as “wholeness” – as a form of therapy it fits beautifully with Ecotherapy, looking as it does at the whole experience – who we are and our place in the world.

  • Mindfulness

The therapeutic technique of focussing on the present, this meditative practice helps bring a consciousness to a physical, mental or emotional state.

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

A highly researched therapy, CBT looks at how our thoughts affect how we behave; and how we can change our negative thought patterns.

  • Transactional Analysis (TA)

An array of psychoanalytical techniques designed to help improve social transactions through identifying and altering ego states. A powerful way of helping resolve conflict and a lot less scary than it sounds!

  • Online Counselling

Counselling provided online via Zoom video conferencing.
