FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is Roaming Therapies and what makes it different?
Roaming Therapies offers ecotherapy — counselling in natural, outdoor settings. Simon is a qualified ecotherapist who believes healing is closely connected to nature, and provides walking-therapy sessions to help clients feel less confined and more free to explore their thoughts.
2. Who provides the counselling?
Simon Heath (PNCPS accredited) leads all ecotherapy and supervision sessions. He’s a counsellor, college tutor, and supervisor with years of experience — and a deeply held belief in nature’s role in emotional healing.
3. What kind of therapist are you?
Simon is an integrative therapist, which means he blends different counselling approaches to meet your unique needs. He draws from humanistic, psychodynamic, person-centred, and ecopsychological models. In practice, that means he won’t use a one-size-fits-all method, but will respond flexibly to your story, your goals, and what feels right for you — whether that’s exploring the past, staying with the present, or simply walking and talking in nature. He believes therapy should feel like a real, grounded relationship that evolves over time — not a series of techniques.
4. Which types of therapy are offered?
Individual counselling outdoors (ecotherapy)
Couples counselling outdoors
Online therapy and supervision
Counselling supervision for trainees and qualified therapists
Workshops and resources for therapists and students
5. Where do sessions take place?
Most sessions happen outdoors — in woodlands, parks, or open spaces — depending on what’s accessible and comfortable for you. Walking side by side often helps people speak more freely, and being in nature reduces the pressure of face-to-face conversation.
6. Are there online or indoor alternatives?
Yes. Simon also offers Zoom sessions for those who prefer or need remote access. He’s skilled at creating warmth and connection online, and many clients say the same depth is possible even via screen.
7. Who would benefit from ecotherapy?
Ecotherapy can be especially helpful for people who:
Feel overwhelmed or boxed in by traditional therapy rooms
Struggle to sit still or open up indoors
Feel a connection to nature or want to build one
Need a calmer, more spacious way to process emotions
9. How much does therapy cost and how long is it?
Session lengths are typically around an hour. Costs vary depending on the type of service — individual, couples, supervision, or training — so it’s best to look at the individual counselling pages or contact Simon directly. He’ll talk it through with you clearly, without pressure.
